Reiki
What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is an ancient Japanese spiritual practice that promotes healing. Through hand placements on or above the body, the universal "life force energry" is channeled. Energy flows to those areas which may be blocked or low in energy. This treatment addresses physical, emotional and psychic/spiritual issues. It reduces stress, promotes relaxation, helps eliminate toxins, reduces pain, and boosts the immune system. Reiki can also be used to sleanse the chakras and auras, promoting balance. It is not a cure and should not be used in place of treatment by a license professional, but it is believed to facilitate healing and is being utilized by hospitals around the country including The Columbia Presbyterian Medical Centre where Dr. Mehmet Oz, as seen on Oprah, has been known to allow the use of reiki during open heart surgeries.
